Project 365 #090 - I don't do nighties

090 - I don't do nighties - Random fact about me....... I really don't like night dresses.  Night SHIRTS on the other hand are a completely different ball game.  I find the dress variety so unflattering and uncomfortable, and they always end up riding right up to my ears (although the shirts kinda do the same) and yes I know I shouldn't care about how I look when i'm sleeping but you never know who you're going to meet in your dreams??

Project 365 #089 - I copied Taylor Swift

Day 089 - I copied Taylor Swift - Ok so it seems I have developed quite an obsession with Miss Swift recently. I watched her gig that she did at Abbey Road Studios for BBC2 on the red button yesterday and then continued to youtube a load of her music videos. I just had to do the blue and white polka dot nails that she sported in her "Our Song" video they looked so cute.  So I got my trotters out this evening and recreated the look (I really do hate my feet).  I used Barry M in Turqouise and Rimmel Nail Tip Whitener (I used one of those little wooden sticks to do the dots).

Here are Taylors beautiful tootsies!  Pic from google images

Happy Hump Day!

Project 365 #088 - Which wallpaper........Decisions Decisions

Day 088 - Which wallpaper........Decisions Decisions - My bedroom has literally looked like this for about 3 months.  I just can't decide which one I like best (there are actually even more on the other side of my wall).  I change my mind daily.  It took us about 6 months to finally pick our lounge wallpaper.  I'll keep you posted on which one we actually decide to go with.

I have spent this evening hearting LOTS of beachy summer photos on weheartit.  Makes me feel so happy just knowing that warmer days are just around the corner which can only mean one thing BBQ's on the beach  OH YES!!!  Dylan comes home from work tomorrow which makes me a very happy girl.

Project 365 #087- Pass me the carbs!

Day 087 - Pass me the carbs - I really don't know how anyone does the Atkins diet, carbs are my fave thing and I couldn't imagine a world without pasta or bread.  Anyway this was dinner and it tasted yummilicious.  Washed it down with a chamomile, honey and vanilla tea mmmm x

Elnett V Tesco ProFlex

I was fortunate enough to be sent some hairspray to try a while ago.  The contenders are Elnett and Tesco ProFlex

Now obviously Elnett is a well known brand used by many a hair stylist and it is a really great all round hairspray, however...... I was interested to see how the Tesco version compared as it claims to do pretty much the same as Elnett but has a much lower price tag (always a bonus right!?!).

I thought I'd test both products out by curling my hair on two separate occasions for evenings out to see which one dealt with my curls the best.

Scores all out of

First up was Elnett Satin Volume Extra Strength  -

Price -  - £3.54 - Not bad considering its such a well known brand

Smell - ★ -In my opinion it has a very old fashioned smell about it.  It smells like a perfume that your gran might wear, not everyones cup of tea.

Hold - ★ - It claims to be "extra strength" and "very volume".  The hold was pretty good but I felt like I needed to use quite a lot of it and I didn't find it massively volumising.

Staying power -★- My curls loosened about an hour or so after spraying which you can probably see from the photo, I actually didn't mind this and then they pretty much stayed  put all evening.

Overall Score -

Sorry about the crapola pic - It was the only one that showed all of my hair

Tesco ProFlex Hairspray Max Hold Styling -

Price - ★ - £2.04 - Great price

Smell -  - This had a more typical hairspray smell to it (which I actually preferred) but it is quite subtle and not too overpowering

Hold -  - Great hold - I again felt like I needed to use quite a bit, but I definitely thought the hold was a lot better.

Staying power - ★ - Good - Don't get me wrong by the end of the night my curls had most definitely dropped but I had been in a hot and sticky bar dancing all night so you have to expect it really :-)

Overall Score - ★

Both hairsprays claim it disappears at the stoke of a brush, which it does but it doesn't make that granny smell disappear from the Elnett does it........oh no.

All in all they are both great hairsprays and neither are very expensive.  Since doing this little comparison test I have to say I have reached for the Tesco one over Ellnett, and I will most definately be replacing it when I run out.

Project 365 #086 - Lush Ex Factor Bath Ballistic

Decapitating the little blue man haha

Day 086 - Lush Ex Factor Bath Ballistic - Today I laughed a lot with my sister, we put the finishing touches to our Mothers Day Photo Book and had such a laugh looking at the horrendous photos of us growing up.  I've got to say though I have really enjoyed picking which photos to go in the book and writing cheeky little captions next to the pictures and it's always lovely just spending time with my sister!  And then this evening we all piled in the car and went to mum and dads for roast dinner so I've had a lovely weekend with the family!

Tonight I thought i'd give this bath ballistic a go from Lush, I've had it in my stash for a while now but keep forgetting about it.  It smells bloomin lovely but nothing beats my favourite bath time treat from Lush - Karma bubble bar, smells ah mazing and leaves your bathroom smelling sweet for days!

Well I suppose I should try and go to bed and get into the swing of the clock change.  Night Night

Project 365 #085 - Framing my pics

Day 085 - Framing my pics - Today has been a day of photos!  I was woken at 8:30am by my doorbell, it was the postie with my photos that I ordered to go in my frames. We are basically having a photo wall in our lounge, its kinda like a shrine to our marriage as every photo is just of me and Dylan haha.  We are planning on doing another photo wall of all our friends and family as well so were not completely self absorbed ha.

This afternoon I went to Starbucks for a cheeky latte and then spent the rest of the afternoon at my sisters house scanning photos for a photo book that we are putting together for mum for mothers day, I also managed to blag dinner and a cupcake whilst I was there, result!!

Project 365 #084 - New Obsession - Nature Valley Crunchy

Day 084 - New Obsession - Nature Valley Crunchy - These granola bars were on offer in Tesco last week so I thought i'd give them a go and boy am I glad I did, they are full of oaty goodness and taste lush!  The Oats & Honey flavour is the best in my opinion.

Anyhoo its Friday and i'm feeling fabulous!  I've just had a shower and am sat down with my cuppa ready to catch up on Gossip Girl.

Project 365 #083 - Meet Twinkle

Day 083 - Meet Twinkle - This is Twinkle and she has been living in my car for about 3-4 years now.  She was actually just a Christmas decoration for my car but I decided she was too cute to put away and she has lived there ever since.  My car has had a serious clean and now smells delish.  There's something quite satisfying about driving in a freshly cleaned car, its kind of the same feeling as when you leave a hairdressers haha

Project 365 #082 - Lunch Alfresco

Day 082 - Lunch Alfresco - What a lovely spring day today was!  I actually had quite a productive day today and spent most of my time outside enjoying the weather.  I finally cut my grass for the first time this year, Dylan washed his car, the dog had a wash and hair cut and and we stopped to have some quiche (that Dylan made I may add) for lunch outside in the sunshine.  I hope the weather stays like this tomorrow, makes me so happy.  I'm now about to watch a film with the husband and eat my body weight in KitKat Pop Choc's.

Project 365 #081 - Cape Cornwall

Day 081 - Cape Cornwall - As someone that lives in Cornwall I sometimes think that views like this are unappreciated by locals. I absolutely love living in Cornwall, the people are seriously laid back, there is no rush to do anything (Dylan's favourite saying is "I'll do it tomorrow") as for beaches we are spoilt for choice with over 150 to choose from!  So we took a trip to St Just and Cape Cornwall as it's somewhere I have never visited.  We took a stroll up to the watchtower, the views were beautiful and the sea air blew the cobwebs away.

Project 365 #080 - Giving Bokeh a whirl

Day 080 - Giving Bokeh a whirl - Yesterday I discovered how to make cute little hearts out of lights using a technique called Bokeh.   Carlinn put a video up explaining how to make a DIY kit for your camera lens, It's basically a case that covers your camera lense with a little heart cut out, and really is quite simple to make.  My pics aren't amazing as I didn't really put much care into cutting the heart out and I was in too much of a rush to see if it worked haha.  I now want to buy the Bokeh masters kit from ebay which has lots of different shapes!!

Today has been a bit of a lazy day I spent the morning ordering photos to go into my frames for my lounge wall, then cooked a roast dinner, and walked the dog.  Also put an order in for a scarf that Victoria very kindly offered to knit for me as I loved the one that she knitted for herself so much, what a little sweetie! I just have to wait until after lent to be able to actually buy it!!

Hummingbird Bakery Caramel Cupcakes

I baked these delicious little cupcakes today, the recipe is from the new Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook called Cake Days.  I suggest anyone that loves baking to go out and buy this immediately as it has some really  tasty little treats in it.  I pre-ordered mine from Amazon.

Makes 12 - 16 cupcakes

What you will need
For the Sponge

80g unsalted butter softened
280g caster sugar
240g plain flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
240ml whole milk
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
2 large eggs
150g tinned caramel or dulce de leche

For the Frosting

500g icing sugar
160g unsulted butter
50ml whole milk
100g tinned caramel or dulce de lech plus extra to decorate

1.  Preheat the oven to 190 C (375 F). Gas mark 5 and line a muffin tin with muffin cases
2.  Using a hand-held electric whisk or a freestanding electric mixer with the paddle attachment, whisk together the butter, sugar , flour, baking power and salt on a low speed until crumb-like in consistency.

3.  Place the milk and vanilla essence in a jug with the eggs and whisk by hand until combined.  Pour three quarters of this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix together on a slow speed, then increase the speed to medium and keep beating until smooth and thick.  Scrape down sides of the bowl, then add the remaining milk mixture and the tinned caramel and continue to mix until all the ingredients are incorporated and the batter is smooth.

4.  Divide the batter between the muffin cases (I used these snazzy animal print ones from Morrisons), filling each by two-thirds.  Any remaining batter can be used to fill one to four more cases in a separate tin (believe me there will be loads left over, I made 20 with this mix).  Place in the oven and bake for 18-20 minutes or until well risen and springy to touch.  Leave to cool for a while in the tin, then transfer to a wire rack to cool down fully while you make the frosting.

5.  Using the electric whisk or freestanding mixer with the paddle attachment, beat the icing sugar with the butter on a low speed until combined and still powdery in texture.  Slowly mix in the milk, and once it is incorporated, increase the speed to high and whisk until light and fluffy.  Add the caramel and beat in well.

6.  Spoon the frosting on to the cupcakes once they have cooled, smoothing it on with a palette knife and swirling the frosting.  If you want to decorate the cakes, spoon some tinned caramel or dulce de leche into a piping bag with a small nozzle and pipe on to the cakes in little hearts, or whatever shape takes your fancy.

Now the bad news is I have to eat them all haha!!!

Project 365 #079 - Lady and the Tramp

Day 079 - Lady and the Tramp - Today has been such a lush day, I love Cornwall so much when the sun shines.  I spent the day down the beach with my friend Charlotte and the dogs Maisy and Gertie (Charlotte is looking after Gertie for a friend, oh and how cool is that name btw GERTIE).  How cute is this photo of them sharing an ice cream...... I know its naughty letting your dog eat ice cream but its not like I give it to her every day.

I also made cupcakes from the new Hummingbird Cookbook today, I decided to go for the Caramel Cupcakes and WOWZERS they taste delicious. Recipe and pics to follow.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend.  I am off work again next week (so much annual leave to use up)

Project 365 #078 - Party Party!

Day 078 - Party Party - Don't you just love it when your make up goes exactly how you want it. Although to be fair this pic doesn't even show my eyes properly but I was in a rush to go out the door so just took some snaps real quick! I was in fact wearing Mac Sable with a bit of Barry M Dazzle Dust in 97 on the outer corner and it just went so perfect with all the earthy colours I was wearing.  The only thing that did bug me was the fact that I had no false eyelashes and as I've given up shopping for make up and clothes for lent I couldn't buy any (I class them as make-up).

Spent the day visiting friends, walking the dog, painting my nails and cleaning my house,  it has turned into quite a tip recently as I have been too poorly to push the hoover around but its spick and span again now.

Day 077 - Party Frock - IT'S FRIDAY!! And I've got next week off work yay!  Tomorrow is my sister's party for her 30th birthday (which was on 5th March btw).  She is having a joint shindig with her best friend who also turns 30.  This is the outfit I have in mind.  I bought the dress from New Look before I gave up shopping for lent (yes I did think ahead haha) but I'm not sure whether to wear tights or over the knee socks?? Any suggestions welcome.  I also cannot be bothered to fake tan tonight so will be using the instant stuff tomorrow, the Body Shop tanning stick is really good it leaves a lovely sheen to the skin and smells amazing.  I also don't know whether to wear the flower attached to the dress or in my hair...... decisions decisions.  I think I've got just about enough of my favourite perfume for the evening (Poeme Lancome).

I'll be sure to post a pic of said outfit tomorrow!

Project 365 #076 - Hummingbird Bakery Cake Days!

Day 076 - Hummingbird Bakery Cake Days! - I got home from work to find the delivery guy standing on my doorstep....... talk about perfect timing, and this it what he was bearing in his hands, I literally snatched it from him haha!  Cannot wait to get my teeth into this book, I plan on baking something from it over the weekend.

I have literally been watching Chris Moyles on the red button since I came home from work (its rather addictive).  Can't believe he has been on the air for so long without any sleep all in the aid of Comic Relief and they have raised over 1 million pounds already.  Everyone should donate, it's such a great cause.

Had THE worst nights sleep last night, we had a black out in some areas of Cornwall last night and I was woken at 1am by my neighbours house alarm going off, all of my phones were beeping in my house and the dog was going crazy, this happened not once but THREE times in one night, not a happy bunny.  The good news is my cold is way better today and even better news is that tomorrow is FRIDAY!

Project 365 #075 - So fresh and so clean clean

Day 075 - So fresh and so clean clean - This is my feel good kit right here.  I started to feel marginally better this afternoon and I don't know if its just me but I always feel like my skin is so dry and flaky whenever I get a cold so I have spent the evening in the shower buffing, scrubbing and moisturising and the end result is I feel a lot smoother, if a little red from all the scrubbing! Johnsons baby lotion is my all time fave smelling moisturiser and everyone and their mum needs to own Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, this stuff is the business on my dry patches and its great as a lip conditioner too.  Finally took my chipped nail polish off tonight and am currently sat typing this with a hair mask on.  I feel so clean mmmmmm!

Also RIP Nate Dogg - Regulate is one of my all time fave songs.

Project 365 #074 - Ruff Rough

Day 074 - Ruff Rough - I feel seriously rough today!!  My sore throat went to another level last night and turned into a full blown cold with a runny nose, leaky eyes, awful cough i'm basically leaking from every orifice and feel like horse shit!  Todays picture is of my gorgeous Westie Maisy, we both napped together on the sofa after work and then I took her for a nice long walk which then lead to my nose leaking a bit more.  Its safe to say I am feeling sorry for myself  :-(
