Project 365 #209 - Tesco Buys

Day 209 - Tesco Buys - Whilst doing the weekly shop I picked up a couple of beauty essentials.

According to Look magazine the Dove exfoliating bars are ridiculously moisturising to dry skin and the exfoliating beads are so gentle that they won't irritate your skin.  I personally love the smell of Dove products.  When husband and I first got together 9 years ago I used to spend a lot of time at Dylan's dads house and he ALWAYS had dove soap in the bathroom so the smell makes me feel all nostalgic and takes me back in time, I love it when a smell has that effect!

Whilst on the exfoliating theme I also picked up some St Ives Invigorating Scrub - I have been using this stuff for years and love it.  It always feels like it gives you a really deep scrub and makes my skin feel so soft afterwards.

Also picked up some Carex handwash for the bathrooms as I'm running out.

Project 365 #208 - I finally painted my nails

Day 208 - I finally painted my nails - I finally managed to find some time to paint my nails (a lot of my time has been spent rubbing stretch mark cream into my belly, its never too early to start hey?).  This is the free Misguided nail polish that came with Cosmo magazine I got the shade Miss Tique and I've gotta say I am pretty impressed, really nice consistency, glides on nicely and great colour.

Project 365 #207 - Cucumber Face Mask

Check out my crazy hair

Day 207 - Cucumber Face Mask -  Went for a lovely swim tonight (i'm really getting into my swimming now) and as I felt so refreshed when I got home I decided to stick a face mask on as soon as I jumped out of the shower - god I love to feel clean haha. This is the cheapest face mask ever costing only £2.03, its Boots own brand cucumber face mask.  I remember using it when I was a teenager and I just love how fresh it smells.

I want to say a massive thank you for all your lovely comments on my last post, I was quite overwhelmed by the reaction and all your kind words.  It is safe to say husband and I are absolutely beside ourselves with excitement.  Apparently the baby is the size of a peach this week.

Project 365 #206 - Do you want to know a secret.... do you promise not to tell?

Day 206 - Do you want to know a secret.... do you promise not to tell? - Well actually I don't mind if you do tell to be honest.  I have in fact been keeping a secret from you all for the last 3 and a bit months.  Dylan and I are absolutely over the moon to announce that we are having a baby.  I have been dying to do this post.

We had our 12 week scan last Thursday and baby was being stubborn and kept rolling from side to side so we couldn't get a decent side profile pic.  Working in the Maternity Unit at the local hospital definitely has its perks and I managed to have another scan this Monday and baby was immediately in the perfect position (well done baby, I am already so proud of you) and voila this is our baby - the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life.

Project 365 #205 - Maxi Love

Day 205 - Maxi Love - Wore my new maxi skirt this weekend and it is love.  I love love love it.  Its so comfy  and soft and flattering.  I wore it to lunch with the in laws with my fave cardi (which I have been wearing to death recently).

I'm very lucky in that I get on with my in-laws, I know there are a lot of people out there that can't stand their mother and father in law but I've got to say mine are great.  All of Dylan's family (minus his dad as his mum and dad are divorced) came to the lunch and we had a lovely 3 course meal and had a great afternoon.

Project 365 #204 - St Ives and more stupid seagulls!

Day 204 - St Ives and more stupid seagulls! - I had such a lovely day in St Ives.  We ate pasties on the beach and a seagull decided to climb on me and try to rip it out of my hands but the good news is it didn't succeed and I managed to fight the bugger off, I then witnessed the same seagull snatch a whole sausage roll out of someones hands and eat it faster than lightening, they really are such pests.  We took a stroll to the edge of the pier so that I could take a panoramic picture (doesn't St Ive's look so pretty) and on our walk back we spotted a seal swimming with some people in the sea, it was really quite amazing to watch.

The day was kind of bittersweet though as I had to wave husband off to Cyprus for the next month.  I'm just glad it's only 1 month and not 4.

Project 365 #203 - Rice Pudding with Jam

Day 203 - Rice Pudding with Jam - I recently rediscovered my love for rice pudding so husband and I shared a tin of Ambrosia Rice Pudding with a dollop of raspberry jam.  My mum used to make amazing rice pudding when I was little, I may try and pinch her recipe and make my own one day.

Project 365 #202 - I got Kara Tointon's scarf from All Saints

Day 202 - I got Kara Tointon's scarf from All Saints - You may remember I posted about my love for this scarf last winter (original post here).  I was desperate to find out where it was from and after a lot of searching on the internet I discovered it was from All Saints, was £70 and had sold out.  Firstly I was gutted that it was sold out but there was no way I was going to spend £70 on a scarf anyway.

So imagine my excitement when I found it in the All Saints sale in the Archive section for £35 (link), I did a little happy dance and placed my order and when it arrived today packaged in its lovely box and wrapped in tissue paper (I'm all about the packaging) I squealed with delight.  Now I just need to wait for the next season so that I can wear it haha.

Project 365 #201 - Free Misguided Nail Polish with Cosmo

Day 201 - Free Misguided Nail Polish with Cosmo - I picked up the latest copy of Cosmopolitan which came with a free nail polish.  The options were MissTique (Teal) MissTaken (Orange) MissChievous Coral Pink.  As soon as I saw the colour options I knew I needed the teal one, lucky for me there was ONE left.  Im yet to try it but will probably test it out over the weekend.

Project 365 #200 - Fully Loaded

Day 200 - Fully Loaded - Tuesday was the last day of my camera course and to celebrate my sister and I took a trip to KFC.  I went for the fully loaded (as I always do) and Laura went for a boneless banquet for one.  I can't recommend their chicken gravy enough, its delish.  We drove to a nearby beach to eat it and whilst there a stupid seagull decided to sit on the bonnet of my car and watch us eat.   It was also stupid enough to go for a chip that I offered it through the windscreen only to bash its beak on the glass STUPID SEAGULL, the couple in the car next to us were absolutely rolled up haha.

Project 365 #199 - Post Swimming Treat

Day 199 - Post Swimming Treat - I've recently started swimming once a week and I also plan to start yoga once a week soon too. And what better way to finish a 45 minute non stop swimming session with a pain au chocolat and a cup of cadbury's highlights hot chocolate.  I adore hot chocolate and have tried many different kinds/brands and personally find that this low calorie version is the tastiest (which may come as a surprise to some of you).  I am also in love with Whittards white hot chocolate.  I love nothing more than cosying up next to husband in my blanket with a cup of hot choc.  For some reason over the last couple of days I have been day dreaming of Winter and Christmas.  Its probably got something to do with this dreadful summer that were having.  Roll on Crimbo.

Project 365 #198 - Being Godmother

Day 198 - Being Godparents - Today (Sunday) was the Christening of my best friends Daughter.  Dylan and I had the honour of being Godparents.  We had such a lovely day and even though the weather was grey the service was very bright and cheery.  The after party was typically Cornish, we had pasties and cream teas and obviously my cupcakes.  I stupidly forgot to take an outfit photo but you can kind of get the gist from this pic of me and my sister.

Project 365 #197 - 50 Cupcakes

Day 197 - 50 Cupcakes - Today the weather was abysmal which to be honest was perfect for baking.  I made 50 cupcakes for the Christening that I am going to on Sunday.  I made the plain vanilla ones from the Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook and then put jam in the middle of half of them and lemon curd in the middle of the other half.   Topped them off with icing, adding some lemon juice to the lemon ones and decorated with glitter and sprinkles.

Project 365 #196 - New Bikini & Maxi Skirt

196 - New Bikini & Maxi Skirt - I came home to a couple of parcels on Friday. I have wanted a plain maxi black maxi skirt for the longest time and let me tell you, they are not easy to find.  I searched high and low and eventually found this one on the Topshop website.  I was very particular with how it had to look.  It needed to be jersey material with an elasticated waist and slightly flared out at the bottom, this skirt ticks every box.  I also desperately needed a new bikini, I saw this one in River Island but they didn't have my size, luckily I managed to get the last one on their website WINNER.

Project 365 #195 - Bourjois Rose Lounge

Day 195 - Bourjois Rose Lounge - OK so this nail varnish has been flying off the shelves since Kate Middleton famously wore it on her wedding day so I decided to jump on the nude nails bandwagon and picked one up for myself.  Its such a beautiful creamy colour and the plan is to wear it with my outfit for a Christening I'm attending on Sunday (which I am God Mother btw, such an honour).

Project 365 #194 - My College

Project 365 #192 - So So So Scandalous

192 - So So So Scandalous - This stuff is the bomb.  I bought it after watching a video that Zoe put up on her haircare and I nearly always go for shampoo's that smell good so I was rather excited to try this and I am not dissapointed!  It smells fabulous, and everytime I swished my hair I would get a lovely waft of the product, good stuff.

Project 365 #191 - Dorothy Perkins Sale Haul

Left to right
£15/£15/£17/£25

Day 191 - Dorothy Perkins Sale Haul - Picked up these gorgeous dresses in the Dorothy Perkins sale over the weekend and as I work for the NHS I got an extra 10% discount on top of this.  Pleased as punch!  I am wearing the far right one to a Christening on Sunday.

Project 365 #190 - Happy Birthday Husband

Day 190 - Happy Birthday Husband - It was Dylan's birthday today and we had the best day.  We kicked off by going for a full English breakfast at our local greasy spoon Smokey Joe's, they do THE best breakfasts.  We then decided to go for a bike ride to the beach, we followed a cycle trail which was 8 miles there and then 8 miles back, my butt was V sore after this but the ice cream at the beach made it all worthwhile.

The evening involved a birthday BBQ.  There were burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, sprinkle sticks, cake, beer and tea followed by some very interesting olympic games which my gorgeous niece started, she had us doing wheelbarrow races, hopping races, 3 legged races.  Don't you love the photo of my sister and Maisy!  Maisy was giving her some love as Laura had to have an operation on her shoulder last week, her arm is in a sling and she isn't aloud to work or drive for 6 weeks BAD TIMES.

Project 365 #189 - Lemon Birthday Cake

Day 189 - Lemon Birthday Cake - I made this cake for husbands birthday (Sat 9 July).  Dylan isn't a massive chocolate lover so I played it safe with a lemon cake complete with lemon curd and lemon icing as the filling.  I've got to say, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.  I used the recipe for lemon cupcakes from the hummingbird bakery cookbook but improvised a little by adding lemon juice as well as zest to the sponge mix and just lemon juice for the icing.  DELICIOUS!  For the writing, I used  fondant icing and alphabet cutters to cut out the individual letters.

Project 365 #188 - New Bunting

Day 188 - New Bunting - I think bunting brightens any room/occasion.  I ordered this from The Cotton Bunting Company for £12 for 5 metres and it turned up today.  I intend to use it for gardens parties or indoor tea parties.

Project 365 #187 - MAC & Urban Decay Combo

Day 187 - MAC & Urban Decay Combo - Seriously in love with this eyeshadow combo at the mo.  Its Expensive pink by MAC with Smog by Urban Decay (from the naked pallette) in the crease, paired with a few coats of Maxfactor Masterpiece Max mascara in black and a sweep of black eyeliner in my waterline.  What are your favourite eyeshadow combos?  I'm usually a one colour kinda girl.

Project 365 #186 - Movie Night - Bridesmaids

Day 186 - Movie Night - Bridesmaids - Went to the cinema with my girlfriends to watch Bridesmaids.  It was bloomin hilarious.  I highly recommend it.  This is what I wore.  I'm rather ashamed to admit that I am head to toe in Topshop, what can I say, I love that place.  Also apologies for the blurry photo - MY BAD!!!

Project 365 #185 - Time for some new slippers

Day 185 - Time for some new slippers - I love my bedroom athletics slippers so much, they are so soft and snuggly but sadly their life has come to an end.  There is a hole in one of them and the bottoms are ripped so I am on the hunt for some new slippers.  Ultimately I want a similar boot style and have fallen in love with this fairisle pair from Very.  They look so Christmassy, I know I shouldn't be thinking of Christmas in the middle of summer and I probably shouldn't be wearing slippers in this heat, but what can I say I love to keep my feet warm.

Project 365 #184 - Banana Cake Mmmmm

Day 184 - Banana Cake Mmmmm - Isn't it amazing how the weather has such an affect on your mood.  I have been walking around on cloud 9 all weekend.  Today was very productive (another thing that happens when the weather is good).  I cut the grass in the front and back garden, sat out on the grass and read A LOT of my book, cleaned my house, made a banana cake (the recipe was at the end of a chapter of the book i'm reading) and went swimming.  Some might say i'm a little bit too chipper for a Sunday evening.

Banana cake recipe - its ridiculously simple and great for using up over ripe bananas

2 Bananas mashed
170g self raising flour sieved
170g unsalted butter
170g caster sugar
3 eggs
couple of drops of vanilla essence

Preheat the oven to 160 degrees.  Grease and line a 9 inch cake tin (I only had a square tin but it did the job)
Cream together the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Add the eggs gradually, while beating.  Add the vanilla essence.  Add the flour and fold into the wet mixture.  Add the mashed banana.  Bake in the oven for about 50 minutes or until golden.
