2 more sleeps

Maxi Skirt + Vest - Primark//Shirt - Newlook

Today I am ridiculously happy because husband comes home on Wednesday THIS WEEK!! I can't even begin to imagine how hard it must have been for him to be away from our baby boy for 6 weeks (I can't even last an hour)

I'm not gonna lie, i'm kinda looking forward to having another pair of hands around here.  If the last 6 weeks have taught me anything its that:

I have a lot more patience than I ever imagined
Babies are unpredictable - you can have one fab day followed by a cranky day
Being up for 2 hours in the night with a baby that has a cold really sucks on your own
My mum is simply awesome - thanks for the meals, helping around the house, the gardening
I really appreciate my husband when he's here
I have the best friends and family in the world - thanks guys, you have really looked after me
~ Being a mum is still rocking my world

I'm actually pretty darn proud of myself for managing on my own these last 6 weeks because quite frankly it hasn't been easy! Single mums deserve medals.

HD brows before/after

Last Thursday my sister and I took a little trip into town to get our eyebrows done.  I have NEVER had any kind of waxing, threading or plucking of my eyebrows in a salon I've always plucked them myself (rather badly according to my before pic).  I'm off to a wedding next weekend and thought I would treat myself and sort out my wirey wonky eyebrows so we went to see our local HD Brow lady.

As you can see there is quite a transformation.  I am super happy with how they turned out and will most definitely be going back for further treatments.  It's really amazing how your eyebrows shape your face.  I hope you've all had a lovely weekend in the sunshine.

photo a day for daddy

Hey guys!

If you follow me on Instagram you may have noticed an overload of photos of Fletch on there.  Now there is a reason for this.  Since his daddy has been away I have been sending him a photo of Fletcher every day via Facebook (he's in Oman for 6 weeks with the RAF in case you were wondering).  I am so excited as he comes home next week. The last 5 weeks have actually flown by and I cannot wait for Dylan to see how much Fletch has changed in that time because believe me he really has, especially his little personality, he's such a happy baby and we had a proud mama moment yesterday when he rolled over for the first time.  Saying that though, its not all sunshine and rainbows, I've had rather a few restless nights of late whilst he's had a cold and what with the growth spurt he had a couple of weeks ago.  But all he has to do is smile at me and forget how tired I am.  Here's a few of my favourite photos that i've sent so far **I didn't want to bore you with all 38 of them, although 20 is still rather excessive**

lets talk tights

£6.50 Boots

I always thought of nude tights as something your granny would wear especially when  there are so many great fake tans out there that give you that lovely natural glow but as I walked through the aisles of Boots last week I found myself perusing the tights.  You see, the good thing about tights is that they hide a multiple of sins, bruises, uneven skintone and your lumpy bits and if you get a decent pair they even make your legs look lovely and shiny. Thanks to Kate Middleton nude tights have become popular again and they are quite literally flying off the shelves and if they are good enough for Kate they are good enough for me.  I decided on these shiny ones and i'm pretty pleased that I don't have to worry about dodgy fake tan streaks anymore (just ladders instead).

If your interested I also picked up some lippy (Revlon True Red) and Mavala Double Lash which apparently strengthens your eyelashes and encourages growth (we'll see about that).

What do you think about nude tights?  Should they be left for your nan?

today is .......

I'm slowly getting there with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

A spotty sock wearing, tea drinking, book reading day!  I can't think of anything better to do when its raining outside and your baby is napping.  Happy Monday guys and gals :-)

OK so it's May, I class that as summer, so where is the sun please.  There was a week in March where I wore my flip flops for 7 days in a row but here we are in good old May and its cold, so cold that I had to wear tights today.  Will these legs ever see the sun?

So May......May I please request some sun now?

skincare regime

Your in for a treat today people........yes that is my make-up free face, warts and all! I thought it would be a good idea to show you my updated daily skincare/make-up routine so here goes.........oh gosh look at those dark circles eek!

I wash/cleanse my face in the shower with Elemis tri-enzyme resurfacing facial wash (i've used this stuff for about 3-4 years now and I can safely say it is great on my skin)

Moisturise with Nivea Pure & Natural Anti Wrinkle Day Cream
Dab on an eye cream - Im using Dirty Works Banish the Bags
Next prime the face - I'm using Loreal Lumi Magique Base Primer (This stuff is amazing)
I then apply my foundation using a brush - Here we have the MAC 187 and Loreal Lumi Magique in the colour Gold Linen
Cover those dark circles (you know, the ones from getting up in the middle of the night with your baby) I'm currently using and loving YSL Touche Eclat
Dust on some blush - I have a few faves but I've been using Well Dressed by MAC a lot lately
Now for the eyes I used the NAKED palette by Urban Decay.  I used the colour Virgin on my lids, Creep for my eyebrows and Dark Horse for under eye and then used a Chanel white eyeliner on my waterline and Maxfactor Masterpiece Max Mascara in black on my lashes
Sweep on some lippy - This is my all time favourite lipstick - The Body Shop shade #14 Pink Ginger
Voila your ready for the day

Understandably my skin has changed since becoming a mama, where my skin used to be predominantly normal it is now showing areas of dryness and fatigue so I thought it was time to step the skincare regime up a gear.  I usually just use the cheap Nivea Day Cream (which was brilliant when my skin was normal) but quite frankly this face needed something with a bit more power behind it now.  Here is what I have been using since Fletcher was born 3 months ago (Happy 3 months Fletch).

pleated skirt depleted mum

Pleated skirt-primark/Black tee-primark/Lipstick-MAC So Chaud

I have been one tired mama these last couple of days.  Fletcher has been going through a growth spurt which  basically means he wants to eat constantly and if he's not eating he's screaming.  It also affected his bedtime routine, in that he just didn't want to sleep.  Thankfully these little growth spurts only last a day or two and he got over it just in time for his second batch of injections.......just to add more fuel to the fire.  The poor little mite ended up with a bit of a temperature but I can safely say he is acting his usual self today. Amen to that.

We went off to our weekly group for breastfeeding mums today and Fletcher was smiling and cooing at all the ladies, he's such a little charmer............just like his daddy.

This week the paint brushes came out and I started to decorate Fletchers room.  When I was pregnant we decided to leave the decorating until after the baby was born as we didn't know what flavour he was......fast forward to 3 Feb and my gorgeous little boy came into the world. I didn't want a typical baby blue room so we opted for this lovely shade of green *well I think it's lovely*

The letters are just papier mache letters from Hobbycraft which I covered in fabric bought from Ebay using fabric glue, I really like how they turned out.  You can buy letters already covered in fabric from Mamas and Papas, but they are £10 per letter and as I picked the longest name ever for a boy I didn't fancy spending £80! Doing it myself cost in total about £25 BARGAIN

The room isn't completely finished yet, I still need to get some storage boxes and a nice new lampshade and table lamp as I'm currently using the one from my bedroom but as soon as everything is in place I will share the finished look with you guys.
