Just a quick outfit post today.  I wanted to show off my new jumper that my friend bought me for my birthday, isn't it lovely and sparkly.  I went ice skating at the Eden Project on Sunday {more on that later} and this is what I wore.

one huge makeover

9 1/2 months old and still no teeth
Have you ever seen the film Clueless?  Well its one of my all time favourites and there is a scene in it where Cher decides to "makeover her soul" and that's pretty much what I've been doing over the last month.

It started one Sunday a few weeks ago........I had the sudden urge to start cleaning the cupboards in the kitchen, which I did and that then spiralled into me sorting through 3 more cupboards, cleaning the kitchen from top to bottom, followed by deep cleaning the bathroom.  I suddenly just felt like I needed more organisation in my life and since then I've pretty much sorted every cupboard in my whole house and scrubbed every inch of every surface.

I then got onto thinking about this whole juggling act with being a good mum/good wife/housewife etc and still having time to myself to just be me.  My life has changed so much since becoming a mother, definitely for the better, suddenly your world revolves around your child and you stop being so selfish.  So over the last month I've been organising things both physically and mentally.

Being the Housewife
I've made a cleaning rota of daily chores so that I can spread them out over the week rather than spending a whole day cleaning. I also want to start trying new recipes and just and get back into baking and I can't wait to include Fletcher when he's old enough.

Being Mum
Having a structured cleaning rota means I have more "floor time" with Fletcher. I seriously don't know why I own sofa's anymore as I'm always on the floor with the little man.  I really want to give as much time as possible to interacting with Fletcher and make the most of "our time" together

Being Me
The plan is to swap watching television with listening to the radio or reading a book and I really want to try to get outside more {weather permitting of course}.  I want to look after myself too so I plan to keep fit, eat healthy and just generally make more of an effort, so with that in mind bought some new skincare products recently, I've been dying my hair every 5 weeks and I've been making time to give myself regular manicures.  I've also been going to bed earlier and getting more sleep - I'm terrible for staying up late.

Being the Wife
It's so easy to neglect your relationship when you have a baby as suddenly this little person is dependent on you and the tiredness in the beginning is a real test on your relationship.  Luckily my husband is a good egg, we've been together for 10 years and I don't think anyone knows me better.  We're pretty good at making time for each other but it's difficult when your husband works away from home but as luck will have it, Dylan has just recently been posted to Cornwall so that means we get a lot more time together.

Being at Work
So after 11 months off, I'm finally back at work.  This is the biggest test of all. I hope I can get the work/life balance right.  I never had a problem with it before so I'm pretty sure I can.  Also my priorities have changed now that I've had Fletcher.  I love being at home but at the same time I couldn't imagine not working and I firmly stand by the motto "work to live not live to work"

So there you have it, I don't know where this sudden urge to change things came from, {It could be something to do with going back to work} but I'm feeling pretty good about it.  You may have also noticed I changed my blog layout............ I'm on a roll.
