Talk about bipolar weather we're having in Cornwall at the moment.  One minute its blazing sun the next its torrential rain.  We've had the most amazing summer so far though so I can't really complain.  We took advantage of the sunny weather and took Fletcher to an open day at a local Agricultural College last Sunday when we came back from our mini break to St Ives, purely so he could have a ride on a tractor (which was actually a ride on a trailer attached to a tractor).  Turns out Fletcher prefers to sit on static tractors rather than moving ones so he had a great time jumping on and off all the different tractors.  We finished the day off with a visit to the park because this kid can't get enough of the swings.

I love how the sun instantly lifts my mood.  It has been so nice to wear summer clothes and walk around bare legged with flip flops and there is nothing better than that feeling after having a shower when the sun has been shining down on you all day and your all fresh and clean and discover you have little tan lines appearing on your body. NOTHING BETTER!!

So when I heard the forecast for Thursday and Friday was rain I was a little disappointed.  But in actual fact it was just wonderful.  Fletcher woke at 7am on Thursday, waved off his daddy to work and then jumped in bed with me.  I had the windows open slightly as the nights are so humid and we ate our breakfast in bed to the sound of the rain beating down outside.  I swear I have never felt so comfy and content as I did in that moment whilst we sat there in silence in our PJ's bundled under the covers whilst it poured and poured with rain.  It was marvelous.

Friday, Fletcher decided he wanted to be a rascal for the majority of the day and spent a fair amount of time on the naughty step (terrible twos are real people) but we did manage to bake some chocolate orange cupcakes from the Hummingbird Bakery Cake Days book.  Fletcher repeatedly asked "can I lick the bowl now" obviously his favourite part of baking!  They turned out great, but the mixture made 24 instead 16 so I sent some over to my friends and family, who were more than pleased to take them off my hands.

Moral of the story..... although the sun brightens my mood, the rain makes me feel cosy and forces me to embrace indoor activities and to get crafty or bake which is never a bad thing.  I hope you are all enjoying summer as much as I am.

Just a quick outfit post today.  I am absolutely loving statement necklaces at the moment.  They bring a little something extra to a simple outfit, like this very simple grey top and jeans combo (which I wore a good couple of weeks ago as its been far too hot for jeans recently).  I've been chucking these things on with everything and I don't think i've had so many compliments on a necklace, considering it was only about £7. Just goes to show you don't need to spend a fortune to make a statement.

On a totally unrelated subject, today I noticed that I have to sing the alphabet in my head if I'm putting stuff in alphabetical order?  I'm not alone here am I? Am I??

8 years.....it's a pretty long time isn't it. Well it was 8 years ago that I walked down the aisle and become a wife and this weekend we celebrated by spending a day and night in Carbis Bay and St Ives.

Fletcher was left in the safe hands of my mum whilst we enjoyed some child free time to ourselves, just the two of us, something we haven't done in a really long time. I rather annoying left my camera at home after charging the battery the whole night before so all the pictures were taken on my iPhone.

We left home about 11am and headed straight to Carbis Bay beach where we enjoyed the golden sand and crystal clear water for a couple of hours we then checked into the Headland House which is an absolutely gorgeous boutique B&B and the owners were so lovely and accommodating. We then took the train into St Ives where we had a nice stroll around the town and walked along the pier.

We made our way back to the B&B to freshen up before dinner (and to also have a slice of the amazing complimentary chocolate cake) and headed back to St Ives for some delicious food at The Hub. I had the pulled pork with BBQ sauce and slaw and it was a total mouth party!!  After filling our bellies we took a stroll down to Porthmeor beach and sat on the sand to watch the sunset, it was the longest day of the year and the sunset was just phenomenal. We walked back to the train station hand in hand and caught the last train back and drank hot chocolate with marshmallows and enjoyed a glass of sherry (again all complimentary) whilst watching Anchorman 2. Unfortunately I fell asleep halfway through so we still need to watch the other half.

I woke the following morning to the smell of bacon and toast and I was not disappointed when my full English breakfast was presented to me. Our stay at Headland House was perfect. We then made our 25 minute journey home to our little dude who was delighted to see us if a little bit angry that we had left him for the evening.

It was a perfect weekend and I fully appreciated how beautiful Cornwall really is.  It reminded me that I need to make time for my husband.  You naturally put your children first and it's so easy to forget about your marriage so I really want to make more of an effort there. It was so lovely to walk around hand in hand, have a conversation and a laugh. I'm just trying to decide what to do for our next date now?

I love all the "favourites" blog posts and videos that do the rounds in the first week every month.  Thought I would give it a go myself this month.  As my blog is not specifically a beauty blog I changed it up slightly to include more than just beauty products and I'm going to try and stick to just one or two items per category.

Barry M//Matt White - I have quite literally lived in white polish this month and this one from Barry M hits the spot quite nicely.  Definitely needs a good quality topcoat though.

Leighton Denny//Crystal Nail File - I bought this last month and it has worked wonders for my nails.  It files them beautifully and you can file in both directions without worrying about your nails splitting and here's the best bit.....it lasts FOREVER! You should see the reviews on this thing.

Garnier BB cream//Light - I've been using this for a couple of years now and I can't speak highly enough about it. It gives a very light coverage which I like for daytime wear but it's so dewy. I just love this stuff so much!

Manic Panic//Ultraviolet - This is the most amazing product for toning hair.  I mix a tiny bit of the dye with a large amount of conditioner, whack it on my blonde bits for about 20 minutes and its like magic to brassy hair.

Denim shirt - I wore this shirt to death last month but it is such a versatile item of clothing and goes with just about anything.  I love that its a light wash denim, perfect for summer.

Infinity ring - I bought this in Topshop a while back and completely forgot about it, its safe to say it wasn't forgotten about for the month of May.

Rush - We watched this movie a couple of weeks ago and when it first started I thought it was going to be really boring (it was a story about the rivalry between F1 racing drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda) but I was pleasantly surprised and actually really enjoyed it.  Its a true story too which made it even more enjoyable.

Rice cake/peanut butter/banana - I have suddenly developed a bit of an obsession with peanut butter (pretty sure I never even used to like the stuff) I have eaten this combination of rice cake, peanut  butter and banana every day for the last 2 weeks.  Don't even get me started on Star Bars.

Katy Perry//Prism - I have been listening to this non stop and actually went to see her a couple of weeks ago at the O2 in London.  My favourite songs from the album are walking on air and legendary lovers.

LilyLovesLola - I have been following Victoria's blog forever and it is still one of my favourites.  She has just come back from a holiday in Florida and I have really enjoyed all her holiday posts.  Beautiful, genuine girl with 2 pugs a boyfriend called Jonathan and a great wardrobe.  Check her out if you haven't already!

Piano - I have a Piano!!! I am so excited about this.  I started playing the piano aged 7, had lessons for 7 years, got to Grade 5, turned 14 and decided that playing the piano wasn't cool anymore.  The good news is, its like riding a bike.  You never forget how to read music and I can still play my grade 5 pieces.  I can't wait for Christmas - Carols and mulled wine by the piano YES.

I hope you've enjoyed this rather late favourites post.  I'm going to try and make this a regular occurrence (hopefully I'll get my June Favourites up in the first week of July!)

If you follow me on Instagram you'll know that I spent this last weekend in London.  I went up with my sister, niece and friend Charlotte to see Katy Perry at the O2 - she was phenomenal by the way, bursting with energy and a little bit crazy and I just love her.

It was a fast paced 2 day trip full of singing, dancing and shopping and I learnt a lot of lessons whilst there and wanted to document them here for future reference.

1.  Never wear heels to a concert - your feet will feel like they are bleeding by the end of the night.  Flat shoes all the way from here on out.
2.  Always get a drink BEFORE you get in the O2 arena because you will be thirsty and won't want to leave your seat for fear of missing something spectacular.
3.  Take care when walking through the turnstiles in Paddington station toilets because it hurts like hell when you get your leg stuck, you end up with a 3 inch bruise on your thigh and you have to pay 30p for the pleasure.
4. Share a suitcase with a friend so that you can leave it at Left Luggage whilst you hit the shops and you can share the cost (£5 sounds much better than £10!)
5.  Never, I repeat NEVER leave your bags unattended not even for a second because someone will pick up that Zara bag with your new shorts that you just bought and steal them!! (I learnt the hard way and had to buy them twice)
6.  Get a Bumbag (fanny pack) -  I don't actually care how ridiculous they look they are practical and I am so paranoid about thieves now.
7.  Always make time for a cupcake from the Hummingbird Bakery.  They are the bees knees!
8.  Get a shopping caddy for your shopping bags - no more aching shoulders/arms/hands - i'm getting one next time
9.  Check your items for damages before buying - I bought 2 statement necklaces from Forever 21 that were damaged and I didn't realise until I was on the train home :-(
10.  Ditch the map and use the app - The tube map app is brilliant, it tells you exactly what platform to get on, where you need to get off and changeover etc.. it just works out everything for you.....a must in my books

Wanna see what I bought?
